For Sale: 1991 Lotus Elan turbo $20,500 Red convertible, 5-speed, 45,000 miles, well maintained, very reliable, top in good condition with no leaks, timing belt changed at 37k miles, very fast with incredible roadholding! A/C contains original factory freon, and blows cold. Modifications: Custom roll bar, HKS blow off valve, custom intake and ITG air filter, minor boost tweak, turbo timer, alarm, LoJack, Sony/ADS stereo, braided brake lines. The wheels are MOMO 15 x 7 w/ 205-50-15 Yokohama AVS intermediates. I am a firm believer in sizing wheels to fit brakes to minimize unsprung weight, and it handles much better than with the stock 16 x 7 wheels as a result. I have 5 wheels and tires. I recently replaced the brake master cylinder and it dramatically improved the braking. I'd been bitching about this to the dealer even when the car was under warranty - they never did anything about it. Not that I use the brakes much..:-) We purchased this car in 1994 with 11,500 miles on the clock. Its been great fun, and has at times been the only car that was working from my fleet, but with 2 kids in our family, its time to let it go. I've only gotten to drive it about 6000 miles in the last 5 years! believe I am the 2nd owner. Most of the 'issues' these cars develop have been resolved - cam angle sensor, shifter cables, window clips. The roof has never had problems. The car is unmodified in any other way. Original exhaust, rarely ever seen snow, always garaged. Its had 3-4 days of drivers school track time in the 7 years I've owned it - including 1 day at the LOG @ Pocono. We used to take it along as a backup track car, but the Alfa GTV6 was usually pretty reliable, so the Elan did not often get a chance to get used! Defects: The glove box latch is broken - I got tired of replacing it. I have a brand new on in the glovebox. The drivers seat has normal bolster wear. Paint is great. I recently had the front and real spoilers repainted to take care of parking scrapes that I had picked up while I live in NYC. Some more pictures:
